Nutrition for Diabetes Management Frequently Asked Questions
Diabetes Management
How can a Registered Dietitian help with my diabetes?
A Registered Dietitian can work with you to personalize a plan that will for you and your specific blood sugar regulation needs. Registered Dietitians are trained to work with many patient populations, including diabetics. The great news is that often diabetes can be managed through diet and lifestyle changes.
Will I lose weight?
We have found that many of our patients do lose weight through working with a Registered Dietitian. However, results may vary by individual. We advocate lifestyle changes over fad or gimmick diets. If weight loss is your goal, we will do our best to help you meet your goals!
Can you help me with recipe ideas that are suitable for my diabetes?
Absolutely! Our Registered Dietitians are also great cooks! Megan even wrote a healthy greens and grains cookbook. We love sharing recipes on our Facebook page.
Are carbohydrates bad for me?
They are not. There is room in any healthy diet for healthy whole grains and other carbohydrates. However, not all carbohydrates are created equally. We will work with you to make smart swaps to incorporate healthier whole grains in the right portions into your diet.
